Work continues at a fair clip. On Monday and Tuesday the rest of the drywall got hung and they started plastering over the seams. When they finished hanging drywall in the great room, they installed the tongue-and-groove ceiling (another view here).

Meanwhile, the piping for the radiant heat was run upstairs and tacked down on Tuesday. It should be inspected today, and assuming that inspection doesn't turn up any problems, the concrete floor will go in tomorrow. I don't know how long that will take to cure properly but I would guess that no more work will happen on the second floor until next week. Last and not least, the wall for our courtyard has been built.

There are more pictures in this gallery for those of you following along at home.

Meanwhile... the saga of Access To Our House continues. A big deal was made about how the house is going to be locked up now so that noone (including us, it seems) can get in casually. When [livejournal.com profile] willowisp visited late on Tuesday afternoon to see how things were going, she found the front door closed but not locked, the patio doors in back wide open, and the garage door wide open. So much for access control, huh?

Unfortunately, that's par for the course for what I've seen at other places. A door lock can only do so much when there are a lot of other ways to get into the house. When our first house was built, they were completely done with it and we had moved some stuff in, but left the windows open because it was July. When we got back, we discovered that some kids had broken in and stole a radio (from inside a locked cabinet) some food items and a pillowcase (to carry everything, we guessed). Oh well. Live and learn.

Hey, it's cool to finally get to see the radiant heat piping. I like your ceiling too! :-)

All I can say is that if we find out any sort of damage/graffiti was done, I'm on the first plane to Antarctica until Andy is placated. And he actually likes me.

*dancing joyfully in a caffiene induced... fit?*

I found you! *throws confetti* And can you believe I'm here, too?! Thanks for the link, love. It'll be so lovely to be in contact with you and Cat once again. I know, I know, I'm horrendous at keeping in touch, but I'm an avid LJ'er, so this should help immensely!

I'm going to friend you and feel free to add me as well. As I warned Cat, though, I'll tell you that my LJ is chock full of HP fandom craziness and mommy/husband/kidlets whining. What can I say? LJ rambles are better (and cheaper) than psychiatrists sometimes!!!

Now I'm off to put myself together for a night out with Dale and withOUT the children. Thank you LORD! Expect an email soon!
